R. B. Thieme, Jr., Bible Ministries

The word of God is alive and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of the soul and the spirit, and of the joints and the marrow, and is a critic of thoughts and intents of the heart. (Heb. 4:12)

All Scripture is God-breathed, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness; that the man of God might be mature, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. (2 Tim. 3:16-17)

Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2 Tim. 2:15)

ReboundRevisited.jpg (14300 bytes)Rebound Revisited The Apostle Paul, above all men, completely understood the importance of rebound, naming sins privately to God the Father. When rebound is neglected, carnality is perpetuated and the spiritual life self-destructs. Without rebound the filling of the Holy Spirit is grieved and quenched, the Christian way of life disintegrates.

Rebound reveals the majestic grace of God. Rebound is never work on the part of the believer. God does all the work. God requires no emotional purging, agonizing, godly sorrow, penance, or faith. Recovery from sin and regaining fellowship with God result only when the believer follows the gracious mandate of 1 John 1:9.

The unbeliever has but one divine solution for spiritual death—faith in Christ. The believer has but one divine solution for personal sins—rebound. Can we not conclude since it is faith alone in Christ alone for salvation, it is also faith alone for rebound? This may be an intriguing parallel but it is not God’s stated solution.

Rebound Revisited explores the divine directive for dealing with personal sin and gaining momentum in the spiritual life. No more important study for the Christian life can be found.
